Ten Years from Now, What will You Remember?

Ten years from now, what will you remember about today? What I am sure of is that it will not be what Republican candidate Santorum said after winning Minnesota; whether or not Madonna hit it out off the park on Superbowl Sunday; or if your car or bank account is more valuable than your neighbor's.
What you will hopefully remember are the great friendships you shared; what "you" did to better your community, and how you valued your family.
With all of the infinite noise and useless chatter that fills our every waking hour, it is easy to forget about what it truly important and what we will actually want to remember in the future.
Do today what you will be proud of looking back on ten years from now and even one year from now.
Don't waste your life on what you only wish to forget

"Real Housewives" on Bravo Gives Actual Housewives a Bad Name

The "Real Housewives" series on Bravo has surely shown the eptiome of what is cliched as 'The Decline of Western Civilization' at its most horrid and obscene.
As a former housewife and mother of daughters, I can surely attest to the fact that I do not have a boob job nor any plastic surgery; do not spend countless hours drinking and gossiping about idiotic non-issues; and have no clue about what it means to be bored or boring.
Rather, I am far too busy raising young girls to be smart, responsible and good women and citizens with self respect and respect for others; as an activist and journalist re the issues of poverty, child abuse and social inequality; and drinking coffee instead of alcohol so as to keep up with my responsibilities as a mother whose job first and foremost is to raise great kids.
Where they find these women, I will never know, but what I do know is that this new trend on reality television is as far from reality as one can possibly get, as nearly every mother I know works as hard as I do to be good role models for their children, as it should be.
